I chose this question due to the controversy that surrounds the use of the atomic bomb in WWII.

Wikipedia
According to Wikipedia, there were two types of atomic bombs used on Japan, the little boy, which utilized uranium 235 and was a uranium gun type atomic bomb, and the fat man, a plutonium implosion bomb. Evidence of this are in the lines, " The 509th Composite Group of the U.S. Army Air Forces was equipped with a Silverplate Boeing B-29 Superfortress that could deliver them from Tinian in the Mariana Islands. A uranium gun-type atomic bomb (Little Boy) was dropped on Hiroshima on August 6, 1945, followed by a plutonium implosion-type bomb (Fat Man) on the city of Nagasaki on August 9." The bombs' purpose was to be used as an ultimatum for the Japanese. This means that if the Japanese didn't surrender, the Americans would use the bombs as a reason to surrender. Evidence of this lies in the statement, "On July 26, Allied leaders issued the Potsdam Declaration outlining terms of surrender for Japan. It was presented as an ultimatum and stated that without a surrender, the Allies would attack Japan, resulting in "the inevitable and complete destruction of the Japanese armed forces and just as inevitably the utter devastation of the Japanese homeland"."
History
According to History, there were two bombs deployed on Japanese soil, Fat man and Little Boy. Little boy was composed of Uranium - 235 and weighed over 9000 pounds. Fat man was another massive bomb that about 10,000 pounds. Evidence of this are the lines, "After arriving at the U.S. base on the Pacific island of Tinian, the more than 9,000-pound uranium-235 bomb was loaded aboard a modified B-29 bomber christened Enola Gay (after the mother of its pilot, Colonel Paul Tibbets). The plane dropped the bomb–known as “Little Boy”–by parachute at 8:15 in the morning, and it exploded 2,000 feet above Hiroshima in a blast equal to 12-15,000 tons of TNT, destroying five square miles of the city.", and , "Thick clouds over the primary target, the city of Kokura, drove Sweeney to a secondary target, Nagasaki, where the plutonium bomb “Fat Man” was dropped at 11:02 that morning. More powerful than the one used at Hiroshima, the bomb weighed nearly 10,000 pounds and was built to produce a 22-kiloton blast." The purpose of the bombs were to force the Japanese to surrender while reducing the maximum amount of casualties.
History1900s
According to History1900s, There were two bombs deployed. One of them, named Little Boy, was an untested 2 billion dollar bomb composed of Uranium - 235. Evidence of this are the lines, "Little Boy" was created using uranium-235, a radioactive isotope of uranium. This uranium-235 atomic bomb, a product of $2 billion of research, had never been tested." The other bomb was one named Fat Man which was composed of plutonium - 239. Evidence of this would be to line, "The second run was not delayed in order to give Japan time to surrender, but was waiting only for a sufficient amount of plutonium-239 for the atomic bomb. On August 9, 1945 only three days after the bombing of Hiroshima, another B-29, Bock's Car (picture of crew), left Tinian at 3:49 a.m." Unlike the other two websites, History1900s does not give a reason as to why the bombs were used on Japan.
